Booze helps one to become a really great liar. To have a reasonable career
as a boozer you will regularly have to tell a lot of lies. The worst lies though are the ones one tells oneself; there really is nothing worse than that. If you cannot trust yourself, where can you go from there? It is this not trusting which is only known deep down inside one, that the destruction of confidence and one's very person takes place. The worst damage that is done by drink is this destruction of self-confidence. As one loses, or does not find, confidence in oneself so do those about him loose confidence in him. A whole circle of confidence killing takes place. On a deeper spiritual level the same thing happens to ones conscience over time, it gets more than blunted but actually killed off.
